About Us

We believe in one God, creator and sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit; that these are equal in every divine perfection and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

(Ephesians 4:4-6; John 1:1-3; John 14:9-11, 16-17,26; Mark1:9-11)

We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe he concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that he hears and answers prayer and that he saves from sin and death all who come to him through Jesus Christ.

(John 4:24; John 3:16; Matthew 6:9-13; Acts 1:12; John 14:6)

We believe that Jesus Christ is God's only son and has precisely the same nature, attributes and perfections as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. We believe further that he is not only true God but true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We also believe in his sinless life, his substitutionary atonement, his bodily resurrection from death, his ascension into heaven, his priestly intercession on behalf of his people and his personal, visible, premillennial return from heaven.

(Matthew 1:18-25; Isaiah 7:14; John 1:1-14; Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 9:11-15, 15:24-28; Titus 2:11-14; Acts 1:1-11; Corinthians 15:3-8, 12_28; Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 20:1-6)

We believe in the Holy Spirit, his personality and his work in regeneration, sanctifation and preservation. His ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to implement Christ work of redeeming the lost and empowering the believer for godly living and service.

( John 16:7-11; Romans 8:1-17; Titus 3:4-7)

We believe God created man, male and female, in the image of God and free from sin. We further believe man is a sinner by nature and choice and therefore spiritually dead. We also believe that those who repent of sin and trust Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. We believe in salvation by grace through Jesus Christ. We further believe that this salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God, was purchased by Christ on the cross, and is received by man through faith, apart from any human merit, works or ritual. We further believe salvation results in righteous living, good works and proper social concern.

(Ephesians 2:1-9; James 2:14-26; James 1:27)

We believe that the church is the spiritual body of which Christ is the head. We believe that the true church is composed of all persona who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. We believe that this body expresses itself in local assemblies whose members have associated themselves for worship for instruction, for evangelism and for service. We believe the ordinances of the local church are believers baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper. We believe that each local church is self-governing in function and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority. We further believe that every human being is directly responsible to God in matters of faith and life and each should be free to worship God according to the dictates of his conscience. We also believe in the inter-dependence of our local churches and the mutual submission of believers to each other in love.

(John 4:21-24; Acts 4:18-20; Romans 14:1-5; Acts 13:1-3,23-27; 1 Corinthians 16:1-3; 2 Corinthians 8:3-4; Philippians 2:1-4; Ephesians 5:21)

We believe that the supreme task of every believer is to glorify God in his life; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions and that he should seek to realize for himself the full stature of maturity in Christ.

(Eph. 1:2-4; 1 Cor. 6:19-20; 1 Peter 2:12; Malachi 3:10; Cor. 8:7; Eph. 4:13-16)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the lost, the eternal existence of all men in either heaven or hell, in divine judgments, rewards and punishments.

(Hebrews 9:27; 2 Corinthians 5:10; John 14:1-4; Revelations 20:22)

Statement of Faith

We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, complete as a revelation of God’s will for salvation and the supreme and final authority in faith and life.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:4, 16-21; John 10:35b; Proverbs 30:5-6)

I will endeavor to give positive witness of my relationship to Jesus Christ by word and deed in every circumstance in which I am placed. (Colossians 3:17); I will commit myself to regular study of God's word so that my mind might be renewed and my life transformed by its truth. (II Timothy3:15; Romans 12:1-2); I will invest my finances cheerfully and sacrificially in the work of the Lord, taking the Biblical "tithe" as my guideline for giving. (Malachi 3:10; 1 Corinthians 16:2, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8) ; I will involve myself lovingly in the lives of my fellow believers in this church, recognizing that we are all "one body" and desiring that we all become mature, attaining to the "whole measure of the fullness of Christ". (1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 4:13; Galatians 6:1); I will make my time, energy and personal resources available for God's use knowing that all I am and have is simply a trust from Him. (1 Corinthians 4:1-2); I will refrain from any activity or practice of life that might discredit the name of Jesus, harm the temple of the Holy Spirit (my body), hinder a fellow believer, or cause my personal testimony to be compromised. (Romans 2:24; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Timothy 4:12b, 15-16; Proverbs 23:29-35); I will fulfill my responsibilities as a citizen of this land by: respectfully submitting myself to the authorities that God has placed over me, carefully informing myself on the public issues of moral concern and prayerfully involving myself in the political process through which leaders are chosen so that reasonable, God fearing men and woman might be placed in all levels of government. (Romans 13:1-7; 1 Timothy 2:1-3) I will stand resolute against those destructive, ungodly practices in our society which threaten the very existence of the God-ordained family unit such as fornication and adultery, homosexuality, pornography, spouse and child abuse, drug abuse, convenience abortions, unscriptural divorce and self-centered individualism. (1 Corinthians 6:18; Romans 1:26-27; Ephesians 5:28-29; Ephesians 5:18; Exodus 20:13; Matthew 19:8-9; 1 Corinthians 7:10-14; Philippians 2:4) And lastly, I covenant that I will regard this local church and its various ministries as a sacred priority in my life, granting it preeminence over all institutions and agencies of secular origin. I will pray for its leaders, submit myself to its authority and give myself to its ministry as God gives me strength. Our Sonlife Covenant

Believing in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and desiring to live in a manner that will bring glory to Him and having associated myself with this local body of believers called Sonlife Community Church, I do now covenant together with them that …
I will seek to worship God in spirit and in truth as a continuous practice of my life. (John 4:23-24; 1 Thessalonians 5:17); …read the rest.

The inaugural Sunday was September 18, 1994 and the initial meeting place was the Chapel of Victor Valley Mortuary in Victorville. Sonlife Church continued to hold Sunday Morning Service at the "Chapel" until June of 1998 at which time the congregation re-located its place of worship to Vista Campana Middle School in Apple Valley. Sonlife Church had grown to a "Membership" of 150 and had seen its "Vision fleshed out in a viable and beautiful reality. The congregation had experienced 9+ years of simple structure and consistent pursuit of its definition of the Christian Life: "Following Christ in fellowship with my peers". For our Sonlife people "Cell Life is Church Life". A wonderful unity of heart and mind has developed among the people. For business and legal purposes, the "corporate authority" is vested in the Board of Overseers thus eliminating the necessity of congregational business meeting. "Membership" within the congregation is for the purpose of forming an "Identity of Ministry" and is on an annual, voluntary, renewable basis. Each year on the first Sunday in February the congregation "Walks the Aisle" and literally "Signs on the dotted line" communicating their continued commitment to Jesus Christ and to his work in and through Sonlife Community Church. Having taken 9 years to establish and stabilize an understanding of its particular "Style and philosophy of Ministry", the leadership of Sonlife Community Church believed that the time had come to take the initial steps toward establishing a more visible witness within the Town of Apple Valley. That belief had stimulated the decision to purchase a 2.15 acres piece of prime property on the corner of Apple Valley Road and Ottawa in Apple Valley. Construction of our new church building began in the spring of 2006 and after a little more than a year the building was finished. On June 3rd, 2007 the congregation held a Dedication Service and on Sunday June 10th,2007 Sonlife Community Church opened its doors to the community with its first full service. The goal of the congregation is to reach out to the rather extensive neighborhood surrounding its chosen site with the Good News of Jesus Christ and to draw as many people as possible into the experience of His Life: Sonlife. Our Sonlife History

Sonlife Community Church came into being in the summer of 1994 as a result of a compelling vision for a “different kind of church”… a non-traditional church that would be Cell-Based rather then Program-Based… Centered on People rather than Structure and organization… Focused on developing people rather than property… Interested in “experiencing and sharing the Life of God’s Son” (Sonlife) rather than promoting any particular brand of “denominational” life. …read the rest.

Celebration In Prayer ... at the heart of every Sonlife Worship Service is our " Garden of Prayer" - an opportunity for people to respond to the Lords invitation to "Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened". In that "gathering of petition and surrender' great strength to face life's uncertainties is found. Celebration in Giving ... the first Sunday of every month is designated " First Fruits Sunday" when, along with the sharing of communion, the congregation presents its " First Fruits Offering" to the Lord. The concept of the "First Fruits Offering" is found on the Deuteronomy 26 harvest time instruction to the people of Israel. Celebration In Commitment ... the first Sunday of February each year is designated "Commitment Sunday" and all of our Sonlife families " Walk the Aisles" and sign the "Membership Book" pledging themselves for that year to " Live as Sonlife Christians and as members of Sonlife Community Church". Each signing "member" will be presented with a one year Membership Commitment Card. Our Sunday Worship

Celebration In Song … blending contemporary praise music with the old hymns of the faith, the Sonlife Worship Team seeks to lead the congregation each week into an intimate encounter with our gracious, loving Heavenly Father. The emphasis is upon congregational praise rather than upon “special music.” The entire family (first grade and older) is included in the worship service. During the Pastor’s message, elementary students are dismissed to their own class. …read the rest.

It's impossible to know or understand the full measure of "Living" until you are involved in a vital Cell... in the cell meeting application is made of the Pastor's message of the previous Sunday, in the cell meeting needs are freely shared and shouldered, prayer is offered and encouragement given. In the cell meeting, an affirming sense of family is generated and our definition of Christian Living ("Following Christ in fellowship with your peers") is fleshed out. Cell group Leaders are designated "Shepherds of the flock" and are selected and instructed by Pastor Mark for their ministry. They are enthusiastically committed to the ministry of Sonlife Community Church and are "examples to the believer in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12) Our first response to almost any need that a believer might be struggling with is "Get 'em in a group." Place them in contact with the person of Christ as "fleshed out" in those who call themselves by His Name and are indwelt by His Holy Spirit - let Jesus touch them through His People and see if that doesn't restore hope and bring healing. Generally it does! As a Cell-Based Church Sonlife Community Church seeks to return to the simple structure of the First Century when the church met "in the temple and from house to house" (Acts 20:20). Sonlife Community Church is finding that "simple structure" to be immensely rewarding and refreshingly uncomplicated. “Cell Life”

Sonlife Community Church is a “Cell Based” Church … just like a “physical cell” is the smallest complete unit of the human body so a “Sonlife Cell” is the smallest complete unit of Sonlife Community Church.

It’s in the “cell” that some of the most essential activities of spiritual life occur… here is where most of the “one anothering” talked about in the scriptures takes place – “love one another, encourage one another, pray for one another, nurture one another, confess your sins one to another” etc. …read the rest.
