If you were contemplating surgery and the Doctor said that you would have a one percent (.01) chance of survival (that only 1 out of 100 patients survive such a surgery), would you go through with it? What if he said that there was only a tenth of one percent chance (.001) meaning that only 1 out of 1000 patients survive?
