“EXPERIENCING SANCTUARY IN THE RISEN CHRIST”
(John 20:19, 26)
Intro … Oh, what a day to come to the culmination of our “Sanctuary Series” … Easter Sunday/Resurrection Day Itself! Once again we remind ourselves of the Key Concept that has stimulated this entire nine week discussion …
“In the midst of a fallen, broken, demanding, exhausting world,
A place of Sanctuary is an Absolute Necessity!”
“A place of Sanctuary” … a place of refuge and renewal, a place where my sense of well-being is not threatened but rather enhanced, a place where spiritual and emotional equilibrium can be regained, a place where every random and would-be debilitating thought can be taken captive and made subject to the teachings of Christ.

“EXPERIENCING SANCTUARY IN WORSHIP”
(Psalm 95:6)
Intro … For the next to the last time, I draw your attention to the Key Concept that has stimulated our discussions these past weeks.
“In the midst of a fallen, broken, demanding, exhausting
World, a Place of Sanctuary is an Absolute Necessity!”
“Sanctuaries”- places of refuge and renewal; places where we can regroup and regain our equilibrium; places where in careful reflection we can take every thought captive and submit it to the person and teachings of Christ.

“EXPERIENCING SANCTUARY IN THE HEART”
(Proverbs 4:23)
Intro. So what’s it like to live a totally secure life – a life without fear or doubt or worry or complaint or loneliness or uncertainty or even weariness? I’m starting to get an idea, aren’t you?
That’s exactly the kind of life that God wants those who are His to live. He has gone to great lengths to make that kind of life possible even in the midst of this broken-down world we live in. He knows that that kind of life is the complete opposite of what human beings typically experience and that that kind of life cannot be found in the typical places human beings frequent.

“EXPERIENCING SANCTUARY IN PRAYER”
(Matthew 6:9-13)
Intro … Today we arrive at the mid-point of our little “Sanctuary Series”. It’s a series of messages that has been stimulated by a tremendously important Key Concept …
“In the midst of a fallen, broken, demanding, exhausting
World, a Place of Sanctuary is an Absolute Necessity!”
Sanctuary – a place of refuge and safety, a place where my sense of well-being is not threatened, a place where I can regain my spiritual equilibrium, a place where I can carefully and methodically take control of every thought that has invaded my mind and make it subject to Jesus Christ.

(Jeremiah 6:16)
Intro … Last Sunday we concluded our service with a song that said, “Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary” …
For the purposes of our current sermon series we should write one that says “Lord, prepare me to discover sanctuaries – every way I turn, in the midst of every circumstance that I find myself”.
That’s exactly what we have been doing these past three weeks … “discovering sanctuaries” (places of refuge and safety – places where our sense of well-being is not threatened – places where our spiritual equilibrium can be regained – places where every thought that invades our mind can be captured and made subject to Christ) … discovering that God has in fact surrounded us with them.

“EXPERIENCING SANCTUARY IN THE COSMOS”
Intro … Well today is week four in our little “Sanctuary Series” – I trust that we are feeling more and more safe and secure as the weeks go by. Surely the need for sanctuary has not diminished since we began.
Our country continues to teeter on the edge of financial ruin – People by the hundreds of thousands throughout this land are losing jobs and homes and hope – the government is taking unprecedented actions – actions with completely unpredictable outcomes.
Day by day and week by week more and more Americans would certainly say “Amen” to the Key Concept that underlies this series of messages.
“In the midst of a fallen, broken, demanding, exhausting World, a Place of Sanctuary is an Absolute Necessity!”

“EXPERIENCING SANCTUARY IN THE HOME”
Intro … What a privilege and delight it is to continue in this little series of messages entitled “Experiencing Sanctuary”.
“Sanctuary” … it’s a place of refuge and safety … it’s a place where one’s sense of well-being is not threatened … it’s a place where spiritual equilibrium can be re-gained … it’s a place where literally every thought can be taken captive and made subject to Jesus Christ.

Intro … Last week I introduced a brand new little series of messages that will take us right up to Easter Sunday – a series entitled “Experiencing Sanctuary”.
